This stunning dresser is owned by a very good friend of mine, I have known Lara for about 20 years, her and her husband Ollie are originally from South Africa and so is this beautiful dresser. It is a family heirloom and it was shipped over earlier this year, but Lara wanted it to be restored and to fit in with her family home. She gave me just a brief idea of what she wanted. I absolutely love this piece of furniture and I thought it would have been a crime to paint over the woods grain when it is just so stunning. I began by sanding the whole thing down taking it back to its original base. I painted the panels and the inside of the top of the dresser with Rustoleum's Winter Grey, which is a beautiful, subtle shade. I then made a wash using this same colour and painted it onto the rest of the unit. I then sealed the whole thing using several coats of Ronseal's Ash White matt varnish. My final touch was to paint the handles gold, I love the contrast that they give to the finished piece .
